The Opportunity
Our Lead Coaches are natural communicators, team players, and leaders, with differing experiences from all walks of life. As a Lead Coach, you will be the driving force behind student engagement, bringing energy, humour, creativity, and inspiration into every session. You're not only teaching chess but making real-life connections, empowering groups of students with the skills they need to thrive beyond the board. Your passion, integrity, and personality are key reasons students love coming to our chess clubs.
Key Responsibilities
Working at LearnChess Academy, you’ll be expected to be able to execute a number of key responsibilities. These will include:
- Lead engaging, interactive chess sessions that motivate and challenge students.
- Maintain classroom management, ensuring sessions run smoothly.
- Prepare and adapt lesson materials based on student needs and group dynamics.
- Recognise and nurture each student’s potential, pushing them beyond their comfort zones.
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with students, parents, and school staff.
- Foster an environment of positivity, fairness, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with other LCA Team Members to share coaching ideas to form improvements for the business.
Key Requirements
Ideal candidates to join our Lead Coaching Team should have the following requirements:
- Strong ability to manage groups of primary and secondary students effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills.
- Enthusiasm and passion for working with children.
- 5 Years + Chess knowledge desirable (1500+ ECF) preferred but not essential; training provided if required.
- Basic First-Aid desirable, otherwise training provided.
- Clean police record (DBS checks facilitated by the company where necessary).
- Driving License essential (depending on area) unless coaching online.
