Our coaches play an essential role in shaping experiences that students eagerly return to each week.
The Opportunity
As a Coach, you will be supporting our Lead Coaches by painting pictures with words. With a must-do attitude, we will expect you to directly inspire students in smaller groups, creating fun and engaging chess sessions. You will also be the other trusted mentor students look up to, helping them develop their confidence, chess skills, and critical thinking abilities, while maintaining engagement, organising tournaments, setting up and clearing away.
Key Responsibilities
Working at LearnChess Academy, you’ll be expected to be able to execute a number of key responsibilities. These will include:
- Deliver engaging and interactive chess lessons tailored to student abilities.
- Assist Lead Coaches with session planning and material preparation.
- Manage and motivate small groups effectively.
- Identify individual student needs, adapting methods to ensure understanding.
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere.
Key Requirements
Ideal candidates to join our Lead Coaching Team should have the following requirements:
- Ability to effectively manage smaller groups of primary and secondary students.
- Excellent communication, motivational, and empathetic skills.
- Passionate about child development and education.
- 3 Years + Chess knowledge desirable (1250+ ECF) preferred but not essential; comprehensive training provided.
- Basic First-Aid desirable, otherwise training provided.
- Clean police record (DBS checks facilitated by the company where necessary).
- Driving License essential (depending on area) unless coaching online.
